If I were to buy land in North Carolina with a desire to build a community, does anyone know or can anyone direct me to where I can obtain a list of what state, local or federal permits are necessary? My community is about to be turned over, and we want to insure ourselves that the developer has complied with all rules, regulations and permits as we do not want to be responsible for future compliances.

I am hopeful that there is a checklist somewhere.

Try your County Courthouse Planning and Zoning Department. I would also think any licensed contractor would be able to help you.
