What do the minutes of an annual meeting contain ? Last years minutes were read and approved then they back tracked and added some things that just did not happen.

The minutes of a general membership meeting are just like the minutes of a Board meeting.

They contain the same information based on the agenda of the meeting.

Who is the "they" who added times that didn't happen, BB5? Can you give an example of what was added?

Annual meetings are meetings of the Members, so far as I know and the Members approve or amend the minutes.

Although the "official" approved minutes are what the membership decides on when the minutes are read, it is considered unethical to add to the minutes things that never happened.

Because memories are short, Roberts Rules recommends an alternative approach to approving minutes when meetings are held less frequently than quarterly. Roberts Rules recommends appointing a committee at the meeting (ie., the annual meeting) to meet shortly after the meeting, say a few weeks, to read, review, and approve the minutes. This method is perfectly permissible according to accepted parliamentary procedure.
