Our board is around 10 months into trying to request or put together financial info from our past condo commando prez and now we are running into the Treasurer ordering us when we can receive stuff. Our new president can't even get signature cards or the records. We have made it clear thru emails that a) he answers to the board AND b)the bank records are to be brought to every meeting for review. They let the last prez have full reign for over a year and those board members are the ones that are whining they can't account for the way the funds are spent. Should the ones who are fed up with this go to all the owners to get these people kicked off the board? Because they are ignoring the rest of us and the President is too close of friends with the one to make the first move.

The only reason we stay on the board is so we don't get screwed over any more than we already have, had I known about all these problems before I purchased my place I wouldn't have bought it. They lied about the fee (only 1 more year assessment) that has turned into 4!

I suspect there may be more here than meets the eye, but the board of directors should have custody of all records, past and present. The board is responsible for keeping these records. Write the past members a letter demanding (in a nice way the first time) that they turn all records over to the new board. Specify averything that is to be turned over, then document what you receive. If they don't comply, consult your HOA's attorney. If the attorney worked closely with the former board you may need to find a new one.
