I am a homeowner only in my HOA. I was for years on our board. Many members still think I am, but it's been years since I have served.

One of our neighbors cars was broken into and damaged beyond driving a few weeks ago. He came to my door asking if I could help him view the cctv tapes that would show the possible person who did the damage etc.

I told the homeower, I am not on the board, but I do know they have the ability to view surviellence. I also directed him to the board members units and also told him to call the management co. I emailed the board and informed them of the incident, with the following comment. "Have the homeowner contact our managment company and they will direct us so we may look at tapes "

Police were already involved and report taken.

Today weeks later, the victim has yet to hear from the board, the management company or even know if there is a view on cctv. I am not involved, but the homeowner insistes he has called numersous times etc with no response.

I suggested he put it in writing and certify it to the board and management company. Is there anything else I should of suggested?

Send the letter to the registered agent with copies to the Board.

Contact the police and tell them that their may be video tape of the crime and have the police ask the management company for the tape.

Michelle, tell your neighbor to call the police person who investigated and request they followup to get this potential evidence of a crime. This is a police matter.
Also, your neighbor can tell their insurance company about the potential evidence. If the insurance coverage cost is sufficient for fixing the car they may get involved.

Time MAY be of the essence here as many systems overwrite the the storage media after a finite period of time.
