Landscape Contracts

As someone whose father was a landscaper/gardener, I know something about lawn care. Too often people think it is simply mowing. Sometimes they add fertilizer and pesticide to the mowing.

Look at your local area (because I live in Los Angeles where the weather is very dry and not lawn-friendly).

Here's what needs to happen:

1. aerate: loosen soil and thins grass and allows water and nutrients to get to roots
2. replace dead/damaged spots with sod
3. overseed
4. fertilize
5. weed
6. pest control

From what I see, most lawns become half weeds. I rarely see people aerate the lawns. We used to do that once a year.

To replace with sod/overseed, you will need keep traffic off the lawn area for a limited amount of time.

This is part of regular lawn maintenance and you might want to renegotiate your landscaping service contract.
