Does anyone know this person? Have you had any intelligent and "open minded" discussion with Jon? I can't believe his pompous attitude to a new, struggling Board member looking for help!

I have never met Jon outside of this forum. He has always provided excellent advice in the past and, I expect will in the future.
I might not always agree with his advice or he with mine. When this happens we agree to disagree and respect each others opinion.
Granted, Jon's style of posting might not always be received well but for those who can get past the presentation, he does offer some interesting insight to the issues discussed. Everyone has different styles and different perspectives. That's whats great about this forum, getting a perspective into an issue we might not see due to being too close to the issue.
Unfortunately, we are all human and everyone has a knee jerk defensive reaction when they feel they are being attacked. Typically, this reaction isn't helpful to resolving any situation. It's when individuals get past that initial reaction that open discussion can take place and issues are usually resolved.
Board members should be aware of this typical reaction and make every effort to keep their personal emotions in check so the issue can move forward to resolution.
