A sunshine law is a phrase used to indicate that things are to be done in the open for everyone to see. It's like pulling back the curtains in a meeting room or opening the door to let the sun shine in.

Florida has an actual statute called the sunshine law. Here is a link from the FL Attorney General about that law.

Sunshine laws actually only apply to governmental agencies. However, similar to people confusing covenants and guidelines, any law that requires openness at meetings has been referred to as a sunshine law. Here is a link to a thread in this forum about that topic:
