I have a question regarding the board members being absent from monthly board meetings.

Our bylaws state 3 consegetative meetings (excluding special meetings) they would have been removed.

There are two presently on the Board that have missed 2 meetings no heads up or participation in any duties of this board.

How does other (Homeowners Associations) boards have members vote delinquents, assessments, etc. When we have two who have not paid their own assessments. There is no dollar amount in our bylaws that states they can be $40 or $80 late.

What does other people feel about Board members being on the Board that have not set an example.

I know if they have a deed restriction they are off the board. How is the $40 or $80 different?

I just don't agree with this.

What are other peoples take?

Our bylaws say all board members must be members in good standing. That means up to date on dues.

The bylaws say that the board MAY remove a member who has missed 3 or more consecutive meetings. So that leaves it up to the board whether or not to take action. They don't HAVE to, but have the right.

re: the dead weight on the board. Your president needs to make sure the board is moving forward. He/she can appoint members to be on committees or somehow figure out what that member "brings to the table" in terms of service to the HOA.

There are extroverts and introvert personalities on the board. Sometimes those "innies" get overlooked or overrun in discussions and actions. So the president should place all board members where he/she thinks they would do the most good.

But no member should be allowed to sit there like a bump on a log.
