OK crazy question. .

I am in Georgia.

Just wondering what other neighborhoods are doing in regards to Halloween. We had a resident ask us to change it to Saturday. The board discussed it and we decided to keep it on Monday.

Halloween falls on a scool night 5 out of 7 days so I am not sure why we suddenly are being asked to change it.

I am just trying to get others opinions!?!

In years where Halloween falls on a weekend, our community had a Halloween Costume Contest. This year, because Halloween falls on a Monday, we are having a Movie Night in the Park on Sunday presenting a Halloween Theme movie for the kids.

Trick or Treat will still happen on Monday, gotta have my candy.

Thanks Richard,

Our HOA is hosting a fall festival on Saturday but we want to keep the acutal trick or treating on Monday.

I just wanted to see what others are doing.

We keep the trick-or-treating on Halloween night.

In the past, the association never did anything special for Halloween. This year we'll be opening our Community Center for the trick-or-treaters - nothing fancy, just handing out treats the board members have contributed.

Carol:

We go along with what our city does, in a previous community the city actually moved trick or treeting to another day, the reason escapes me.

We do the usual ask residents to turn on their lights, be aware, etc. Nothing special.

I must be missing something, but I don't think any person, or even an HOA, can change a holiday. Isn't that kind of a Federal thing?

Are you a totally gated/secured community? If not you will have two Halloweens then!

We are not gated. We are private roads. But your thinking was out thinking.

Unless someone stays at the top of the neighborhood on Monday night we would have kids on both days!

Thank you to everyone that has responded!

Our Association does nothing special for Halloween. Anything that is done is coordinated by the homeowners.
