I have a German friend in Fort Meyers Beach who owns a condo. Last week the condo above him had some tiles renovated in their apartment. Unfortunately, the contractor made a mistake, long story short, water damage occurred in his flat below.

According to the Association, he is responsible for the repairs in his condo. Can this be true? Please send me URL for the rules and regulations for Florida.

My friend does not have a computer.

Thanks

He shouldn't be responsible for any of it. The insurance for the owner upstairs should handle any damage to his unit, and they should work with the asociation's insurance to handle repairs to the common areas. He "might" have some responsibility depending on how the documents are worded. Have him check with his insurance agent to help sort it out.
