Are there any other forums on the net that are active or available?
I know of this one and one other at another site that has been at the center of some discussions on here as of late.

Yep, seems they made a forum on their website to discuss topics. Lets see how that goes over. I see they even let people advertise and discuss the company's product. Wow, guess they are not scared of competition.

Does this site provide for a PM? It sure would prevent a lot of people blogging on the forum about their person issues between one another. They could then take it to a PM for a private discussion.

I went over there to the site being implied and not spoken of. Seems the discussion forum has a lot to offer. Well organized and has features this one doesn't. I think I will try it out and see if there can be something there. I sorta like getting in on a new site as a sort of a founder. I can't see why I can't offer my opinion in more than one place.

It’s not a forum, but there is a wealth of fair and balanced HOA information at the following site. If you’re lucky, he may eventually answer your questions in his periodic “Ask the HOA Expert” column:

http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/HomeownerAssociationNews.htm

The following forum is generally antagonistic toward HOA’s:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hoanet/

You may get a question answered at following site, but the responses are generally pretty generic:

http://www.dearesq.com/category/property-2/homeowners-hoa/

Also, the web-sites of many HOA attorneys have articles or newsletters which you may find useful, but they tend to be biased toward the HOA’s. Google: “your state, HOA attorneys” then dig around.

I joined the other site as well. Sort of like being a founder or something. I see one other I recognize by name there and one claiming to have came from here. never hurts to expand as long as you do not become diluted.

HOAC,
I went there and looked around. There is really no threads there. But, I think if you build something they will come.
A few nice features I saw was when you post, it was almost like writing in MS Office. They allow attachment uploads and they have private messaging enabled. And they give you the ability to edit your own post. A lot of sweet features, just no post per say yet. I am sure it will boom as well. I will probably join the other one as well and be active on as well. It is fresh and new. Seems to have been done today from what I can see.

How about displaying common courtesy to HOATalk and their sponsors by keeping discussion of the other site on the other site?

Point taken Tim.
But, it seems a little tense around here and a little stuffy.
Seems there is only a handful of people that seems to want to really help and some post on every topic and offer their opinion on everything. And some of those seem to be acting as moderators. And it appears the administrator relies on snitches to report "abuse"
Relax. This forum has been around a long time.
No disrespect intended to this site, as it is helpful. But, it does seem a little antiquated. Lacks a lot of features. Just saying. I will probably be reported for something I said here. But, freedom of speech is only free if you are willing to pay for it.
These are my personal thought and observations.
I apologize if I offend someone.

I hope some of you will get to play in the rubble with JUBELA, JUBELO AND JUBELUM some day if you haven't already

I do not think it hurts to have more than one forum for people interested in HOA activities. I do disagree with TimB4 that there should be no discussion of similar forums on this site.. You guys do an excellent job of helping people understand the laws governing HOAs and the problems people may experience when volunteering in their communities. They will appreciate it more if they visit other sites and find this one is very good.

I sort of see it like this. I have two cars in the drive. One is older, paid for and serves the purpose of providing reliable transportation from point A to point B and back.
I have a newer car I trade in every couple 2 - 3 years for a newer model that has more creature conforts and better technology.
I drive both.

If someone is offering a newer version of a forum, great, I will try it and maybe use it as well. But knowing there is an abundance of information on the old site, I will frequent it as well for, if nothing else, to retieve an article I was read for reference.

To be honest, this site seems to be setup as much for advertising for 123 community.com, their sponsors as well as a discussion board.
There seems to be features at the other discussion board that are more user friendly.
As I see it, there is room enough for two toys in the sandbox.
I will have to agree with one statement about this forum being a little antiquated.
People don't like change. But sometimes change is good.
I like Ice cream, whether it is Bordens or baskin robbins.
