a group of ladies would sit at the West end of the hall and visit almost every evening from 7 - 8 P.M. This was directly outside one of the units. (The owner happens to be a Board member who complained about it at a meeting.) She sited the state law that not tenant is allowed to do anything to annoy another tenant. In the minutes, I just wrote the privacy issue was discussed.
This Board member interpreted what we said at the meeting as giving her permission to remove some of the chairs from the West end of the hall which she did.
The problem is this is a common area. If people followed that law strictly everyone could complain about something.
It annoys me when people come to the wash room when I am washing. I would rather be reading than talking. But I am not going to complain to the Board about it.
There is more troubel with Board members than with the other members.
There is not other place for these ladies to go that is a common area and this has been going on for years.

Bring up at the next meeting that chairs were removed without board approval and that they need to be returned.

Since it's a corridor, are you sure, Bonnie, that there's no rule against furniture or other items being placed in the halls? Our rules don't permit anything in our common area corridors. Part of this is aesthetics, but a major part is to comply with fire dept. regs.

It is at the end of the corridor. I don't think the firedepartment has any problem with chairs in that area or they would have said something when the inspected the buidling.
Another problem is the lady who complained would many times take part in these sessions. WHen I mentioned that to her she said the only reason I did is because they knocked at my door. But I know for a fact she took part many times when noone knocked at her door

Well if such is the case then I think that the lady should stop complaining and start acting a little mature and as an adult. It annoys me to see when people justify their actions and disregard others doing the same. Such hypocrites must be made to realize about there doing.
