Our covanents state now that no boats or RV can only be parked behind the house. This was a boiler plate document. Our lots are very hilly and in some cases, there are no back yards. Does anyone have wording about size restrictions in their covanents? We're trying to get a feel for how others have handled so when we go to our attorney we know what we want to say. (Needless to say we want to limit the time the attorney charges us)

Thanks.

Beth,

It looks like your fingers were a teeny bit slower than your thoughts.

The covenants say that NO BOATS or RV's can ONLY be parked behind the house. Did you mean boats and R.V's can only be parked behind the house and not in front or? Anyhow, there are so many original documents that are just not clear or outdated. You must be trying to amend something in either your protective covenants or bylaws?

With hilly lots, it is difficult to park much of anything back there without neighbors being able to see the boat or R.V. How big are the lots? Once you put size restrictions on what is parked back there, then you will need the "measuring police" to make sure the equipment is within the required size limit. This may not be the way to go.

Do you have lots of these man toys, are you near water that boats are an issue? From experience, any boats in my HOA either were in the garages or not allowed on the property. It really depends on how these vehicles are viewed by the majority of the members.
