If there is no process outlined in CCRs for resignation ( and there are none ) what is the proper method?

We had a board member email and say no more. We have had mailed in snail mail.. and we had one board member bring a letter to a meeting and walk out, while others just bring keys to the HOA and said no thank ou.

Just curious what is considered the proper method?
