Michigan - The association has just placed a lien on my deed in lieu and stated that I have 3 days to clear the lien by payment of dues fees and legal fees. I am 2 months behind after vacating the house and filing for the deed. I have not received notice and only a phone call from the mortgage company. I feel as though the association and it's management company have dropped the ball. Help!

Robinette,

You said that you vacated the house. Did you inform the HOA about your new address? The Association only has to send mail to the last known address they had on record.

If you do owe the funds, my best advise is to pay the bills. Since the lien process has stated, it's typically too late for other options like working out a payment program, requesting fees to be waived, etc.
