Are condo buildings considered non-residential buildings or residential buildings? It is a 20 unit building and only has condos (no stores)?

Thank you

Hi Corey:

Residential ... in essence residential is "housing" and non-residential is "business or other entity".

Corey,

Some place in your HOA documents you will find the words similar to this--single family residence or single family housing or multifamily housing. Single unit ownership for the purpose of residency designates it as residential.

Another place you may find this information is at the Tax Assessor's office when you apply for your homestead exemption. The paperwork will list what type of property it is. Such as single separate dwelling, condo, trailer etc... Unforunately, our state (I suspect others) there is no classification for "Patio homes". Which can fall under single family home or condo, depending on it's attachment situation.

It's good to ask the tax assessor's office what they use to define their terms. You are in residential housing if the home is used as a home and not a busines...
