I have done that with no good results. There is a website called Davis-Stirling which is a web sit owned by some lawyers.

IMO, the site you referenced is the BEST website as it relates to any state-specific CID in the United States.

It is a one-stop shop for trhe Davis Stirling Act, Corporation Cod, DRE Regulations, Civil Codew, Labor Code, and Vehicle Code. Remember you could downl;oad a copy on your computer and by the time you open it, it will already be outdated.

If you want something handy, purchase the 2011 Condominium Blue Book, or you can download a smartphone app for free from Davis-Stirling.com.

I do not find the web site "thee" place to gather info. I understand the law changes which is why I'd never buy a book as you suggested and I download a new copy each year, but cannot find where I got it. With the Act on my computer I can search the entire document with a single key word to help me get to the specific concern I have at the moment.

Thanks for your concern and advice. Dewey

The 2011 Condominium Blue Book can be downloaded as a PDF. If interested, it is at www.condobook.com

Dewey,

I understand the desire to read the code itself vs. the interpretation of the code from a different site. Therefore a simple Google search for CA laws led me to these sites:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/calaw.html

http://www.ca.gov/About/Government/State/LawsAndRegs.html

I will mention that what I like about the Davis-Sterling.com site is that it does reference the section of laws as needed (including corporate laws) so an individual can verify the information.

Your first web site is worthless and I have been there before. The second one does not lead me to the D-S Act, but gave me an e-mail address to the CA Gov.

Thanks for you interest. Dewey

Dewy,

I'm sorry that the site California uses to publish it's statutes and codes on the internet is not up to your standards. I was of the understanding from your posting that you wanted to see the actual code. Therefore, I was providing you with a link to the site California uses to publish the code. I didn't design the site. The site is what I located when I took the time to do some research and answer your question about a State law that doesn't apply to me.

Since you appeared to be very appreciative of the time and effort I took, I decided to devote additional time and work with the site I had provided a link to (the one you said was worthless). I discovered that if you click the box titled civil code, leave the box for key words blank and then click the search button the result will provide you with a list of all civil codes. The Davis-Sterling Act is a civil code.

If you were to do that and then scroll down the list to Title 6 - COMMON INTEREST DEVELOPMENTS. This will contain the Davis-Sterling Act (as provided by the State of California).

Of course other options available to you would be to visit local universities and use their law libraries, use your local libraries or visit the county courthouse.

The Second link I provided had links to other sites with CA codes and Law.

Dewey, those who participate in this forum can, and do, provide guidance to help posters answer their questions. Like others, I will expend my time and effort doing this because members of this forum did the same for me (and still do) when I had questions. However, the members of this forum can't always to all of the work. We provide what guidance and answers we can based on personal experience and knowledge. Some will take the time to do additional research to provide a better answer or advice then if the research wasn't done. However, it is up to the individual asking the question or seeking advice to verify anything provided. This is why many of us provide links to show what our opinions are based on.

Hi Tim,

My apologies for saying the site was worthless. It looks to me like I can get all I need from that site, just not as nice as what I got last year. You now have me on the right tract and I do appreciate your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tim et al,

I opened every section of the Davis-Stirling Act, copied each section, and pasted into MS Word. A bit laborious, but it gives me what I want. If anyone wants a copy on their computer, I could see if putting an attachment to a reply would allow you to do so.

Take care, Dewey
