Does anyone know of any Pro Bono Attorneys that will handle HOA cases in North Carolina?

Look in your Yellow pages of your phone book. They may have a listing for lawyer services. I've seen some legal help type phone in our local yellow pages. In our area we have a Television station that has "Law advise" show once a week. You can call them with questions. May be able to find a source like that. I've also worked at a company that part of their "benefits" program was access to a lawyer helpline.

Contacting these help assistance sites may help you before you find the right lawyer.

Does anyone know of any Pro Bono chicken farmers? I am looking for free eggs.

Does anyone know of any pro Bono plumbers? I am looking for free plumbing services.

I wouldn't get your hopes up... lawyers need to eat, pay student loans, and their mortgage too.

Would be nice to get a "free" lawyer...but only get "free" board members. However, when your association has a mangement company that has taken funds and leaves you with nothing...a "free" attorney may be needed.

Isn't your HOA non-profit anyways? I would expect pretty much "nothing" left in your HOA funds...Spend as much as you get in is the motto of a HOA...(okay there's all that other reserve fund crap...but only if your HOA is the type to have one...)

Joyce,

From the posts, you might surmize that you probably are not going to find a free anything in this case unless there might be a book deal out of some sensational issue that has occured in your HOA. Like an O.J. or Tot Mom . Why don't you tell us what you need a lawyer for? Please omit the hear say and details but perhaps a general idea would be helpful.

Lawyers will never handle HOA cases for free. Why? The money is guaranteed. If the HOA needs money, it just issues a special assessment and the home owners must pay. They have no choice. Guaranteed payment.

They might not handle for free but they may give you a discounted rate. I found an attorney who is helping us (residents) because of the situation we are in. Our board is so corrupt and dishonest it is amazing! Depending on the circumstances if you are a resident with big problems they may help you out!

Good luck!
