Have any HOA's here successfully dedicated HOA property to their local municipality? If so, how did that process go?

Hi Joseph:

Not experienced myself … but I know of a few HOA’s who would like to, so they no longer would need to maintain common area and eliminate the HOA.

Generally the city is an entity who has the developers establish HOA’s in order to remove certain items from the city having to spend money to maintain. That is why your question surprised me in that it is not often a city will accept certain property.

What is the city agreeing to accept responsibility for with regards to your HOA property?

Joseph,

I have not been involved in that practice. However, the basics would be to contact the city to see if they would first be willing to take the property. If they say no, the issue is dead. If they say yes, they can assist you in part of the process.
