In preparing the budget for out condo complex, we discovered that the health benefits are being paid 100% by the home owners AND the home owners are contributing $2000.00 for each staff person per year to their HSA, health savings account. For the up coming budget year we have proposed that each staff member contribute their own money to their HSA and pay 30% of the health insurance policy premium. Does this seem equitable based on your experiences?

In the U S of A the employer pays benefits only because they think it is useful to do so to keep the employees they want. You don't have to pay ANYTHING but be prepared for your employees to be out interviewing for other jobs if they can find them.

Look at the big picture. Is the total cost reasonable? Are your employees trading off take-home pay for benefits? Do you want to get rid of your present employees? Do you think you can replace them more cheaply?

Many companies are cutting back on benefits because they can. The more desirable employers are less likely to do this.

Who are these employees and what are their jobs?

Full time????

And the yearly cost for each in total????

Who negotiated this deal and did the Board ok it?

Are you on the Board? What dod you mean you "discovered" you were unaware?

This is breaking news to me. Even I am not sure of such a practice. I don’t think any person would readily do such a thing for his/her employees.

I take it you have never had a job.
