I"m looking for feedback; does the open meeting act prevent the board from having a meeting without the management association?

Hi Sarah,

Yes, the Board may meet without the management company – if that is what you were asking (you stated “management association”).

Also, which open meeting act are you referring to (out of curiosity)?

Sarah,

I think this subject has been discussed before. If I remember correctly, yes, the board can meet without the management. There are parameters involved, and actually, the real discussion whether the board meet without the association homeowners present.

If memory serves me correctly, condominium associations are non-profit organizations, therefore, somewhat exempt from the open meetings act. I believethe board can meet to discuss association business, but any votes or actions the board decides to make must happen during an open meeting.

Hope this helps
Rick
