I need information from you folks about the annual costs of street sign maintenace in communities which maintain their community street signs and posts. Our community has 600 homes. Our board is considering the assumption of responsibility for the street signs and posts (about 150 in number) in our community and replacement of these signs with a design (posts and signs) selected by the community. Off the top of my head I am guessing about $6000 a year to do annual maintenance (replace signs damaged by motorists and vandalism, repaint due to weather, etc). Does anyone have experience in this area (Number of signs, expenses per year)?

You could get a cost per unit just by looking on-line for prices. (I would allow $75 each for street signs)

Also, these signs have quite a long life, so don't worry about that. You can also get that info from your vendor.

Don't try to replace them all at once. Do 1/3 each year for replacement. The maintenance should be very low.
