I'm a volunteer for a HOA in NC, one of approximately 56 communities that are faced with another request to the NCUC for a rate increase. If approved our sewer rate will have increased by 50% over the past two years.
Our HOA is organizing to fight the request for the increase and are looking for ways to contact other HOA within NC that are also affeced. Can anyone recommend a way to find contact information for HOA representatives?

I would start by contacting the Community Associations Institute chapter in North Carolina. While there are a lot of members here from NC, I think that would give you the best chance of contacting the people you want to rally.

Dan - our individual sewer costs are related to our water useage.
Is that the way it is for you/

If the rate gats increased, how will you cut useage?

Susan - we have a flat rate. Our sewer is seperate from water - different suppliers.

Daniel,

I know that this is a hard pill to swallow (try swallowing it without water) but water rates have skyrocketed recently. I live near the Tennessee River which supplies water in much of the lower south east. Wouldn't you think that water would be less expensive here? It certainly is not. Almost every water district now has added sewer run-off charges, even to condos and HOAs. Recently there have been a flood of posts here addressing the same problem with the raise in water fees. You are not alone. Florida has had to resort to rationing water each year in the summer to save this resource and North Carolina is no different in costs and services. Sorry but this is something that we all must deal with.

Is this sanitary sewer or stormwater run-off?

Sorry Susan,

It is stormwater run-off.

Our waste water (sewer) rates are currently 75% higher than all other for-profit suppliers within NC. All are regulated by a state comissioner. We are looking for parity.
