What have you found to be the best template information for an hoa newsletter? ( Example:board members always listed, calendar, etc.) WHat should always be included in every newsletter each time it is posted?

Thanks!

Setena,

I don’t know all the specifics involved in producing a newsletter. This is my first year as a board member. This is our template. We just copy and paste in new information month to month.

We (the board)generally print them on 11” x 17” (which is standard newsletter paper) It looks much better and it doesn’t look like other junk mail. We always have the board members listing in the same spot every month. We always include a Calendar on the back page that way when the HO has looked through the entire newsletter it then can be hung up on the fridge appose to being thrown out.

I feel the newsletter is one of the most important things an HOA can have. It is the voice of your community.
Use the newsletter to ask for help. We made email address for any comment, questions and concerns homeowners may have.

We have found the Staples have had the best pricing for 11” x 17” black and white duplex copies. We try to keep the newsletter one page (front and back) sometimes we will go several pages if we have any paid advertising! One page keeps cost down. Staples will staple and tri-fold them for a couple of cent’s each, which really isn’t a bad price if you think about the time it would take to do it your self.

This HOA discussion forum is full of some very good advice. Use the search box in the right hand corner to help with you searches.

I hope these help

I’ve been having some difficulties with posting our copy of the newsletter. It tells me that the file attached is larger than 200kb. I really don’t know much about this computer stuff, Although I am learning every day.

This is a section of our newsletter maybe this will help.

You didn't do anything wrong. We set a size limit of 200k on file attachments just so our storage won't fill too quickly.

Thanks for sharing!

We have the contact information (home phone, mobile phone, e-mail) for all the board and ACC members in the newsletter. Also, reminders on any problems we seem to be having such as trash placed at the curb before the allowed time. Short articles such as how to be a good neighbor, things one might easily do to spruce up their property, etc. For this issue (the first since I've been on the board) we enclosed an "overview" or "simplification") of the CC&Rs just to be sure everyone has them. We also announced our new website. Next issue will tackle mailbox and post maintenance and general cleanup and maintenance.

We have no pool, tenis courts, play area, etc.
