Over the years I've dabbled in writing poetry and came across this one I thought you all would get a kick out of.

RULES
by Mary Arnold

In HOA land, where I do reside,
We have many rules by which we abide.

No parking on streets, houses all a beige hue,
No weeds in our yards, basketball hoops are taboo.

No swimming, boating or fishing in the lakes,
They’re only for aesthetics, for goodness sakes!

We can’t fly Old Glory or wash cars in the driveway,
Fail to pick up your dog’s poop, and there’ll be hell to pay.

Antennas and satellite dishes must be screened from view,
You might get away with one weed, but certainly not two.

Garage doors can be open only when going in or out,
Your grass must be green even though we’re in a drought.

Trash cans must be stored behind the wall - out of sight,
We wouldn’t want the neighborhood to be considered a blight.

Yeah, these are the rules; be smart, don’t violate one,
Or you’ll be getting a letter outlining what you’ve done.

If you don’t correct the wrong in ten days, it’s for sure
A penalty will follow, with the threat of foreclosure.

You don’t want to go down that nasty long road,
So just be a good member and carry your load.

Obey all the rules, and don’t make any waves.
And you can live here peacefully, ‘til you go to your grave.

Mary I love the last line---because being on the Board is going to send me to an early one!

Hi Anna,

Well, let's hope not. But,I was just appointed to the board and was told it's a lifetime appointment!

Nice

I'm hoping to run for my board next year. Even after the stories I've read here. I think it's the only way to change things and get the old plodders out.

Mary - thanks for sharing this. A little humor in all this helps.
Good luck on the board position.

Mary,

I'm going to make a motion at our next BOD meeting to appoint you as a Director. ;-)
