Our HOA is severely mismanaged basically due to the lack of help and lack
of taking their job seriously.
We look for copies of an income statement, none. We look for copies of minutes, none.
You ask a board member they are clueless, said the President handles all that.
I can't afford to start a lawsuit and really, they would just use the high paid
attorney to protect themselves.
They have used their own financial situations (they are behind in payments of fees) to scare other owners in to NOT hiring a professional management company. They also
let a convicted felon do work for the association with not being bonded or insured.
Are we wrong to think we have a case, We are sure an exboard member would be more than willing to come forward on our behalf. We only just found out she is no longer on the board and hasn't been for over a year. The President is holding three of the four officer titles too by what she told us, which of course we weren't told all this about our board of directors?
Your advice?
(Please don't tell me to join the board that is not an option, wife won't let me).

Since you say that a lawsuit and joining the Board are out of the question, you have few, possibly zero, choices.

You can try to attend meetings and bring up your issues.

You can try to sell and move.

You can just live with the issues and hope that it somehow works itself out.

If you can't or aren't willing to do anything, you can't be part of the solution.

Attended meetings when I knew about them and they actually had them. Use to be on board but removed myself due to the liability of getting sued because the board
wouldn't follow Ohio Condo Laws. Attorney before I quit recommended a management company and the other board members didn't want to spend the extra $25.00 a month.
The President was going to get one and bascially lied to me, you know tell people
what they want to hear. Only 2 other owners show up at yearly meeting because these owners are whipped.

Offered Ideas and Solutions, read from their own Attorney's handbook about
what their responsibilities are. Ignored.

Sent multiple emails addressing voilations and having a ex-con (or current-con)doing work for the association, because it saved them a little money it was okay'd. Again sent a letter, no reply.

Oh that's right our values went down $30,000 dollars in two years. So when I can I will move and really did you have to put that down?

My advice is to live with it. There is nothing else that you can or are willing to do.
