The last meeting held by our HOA was more than 10 years ago. How can I find out if the HOA is still active? The legal name is "Village of Cypress Homeowners Association(, Inc.???)". I went to the Title Company (Stewart Title) I thought the organizational documents were recorded at, but they did not have the records. How can I find out the status of this HOA? I live in Cypress, Texas which is right outside of Houston. Thank you for your time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Check with the Texas Secretary of State to see the business status. My guess is that it is not active or not in good standing if no one has done anything for the past 10 years.

Check with the register of deeds in your local county, that is were all of our CC&R's and bylaws, etc. are recorded and filed.

That may give you a start on where to go.

Thank you Brad. I didn't even think of county records. I'll give it a whirl.

The other questions is: have you received a statement for dues/assessments from anywhere? How do they keep up the common areas? If not, and it was a voluntary assn., everyone may have given up on it.
