Does anyone know of any other homeowner association forums on the internet? I am a new board member that has never been on a board before, and I want to get up to speed. There are many issues to deal with and I would like to familiarize myself with the way others have dealt with these issues. On another issue, how many associations have purchased memberships with the Community Associations Institute for their board members?

Hi Tony,

There's this HOA bulliten board, but be sure to add what state you live in when you ask for help, sometimes there are other's who live in your state, and know quickly where the information you need is. Here's the link: http://www.ccfj.net

Take care,

The best advice I can give is to read and know all your association documents, read and know the state law...and follow them.

I am a VP who was new to being on an Association Board. The one person on the Board of 5 who had prior experience had no idea about following the law. Well intentioned, but not well informed. We live in a fairly well educated, rights oriented, inetrnet savvy community. If I had taken the initiative to be the go-to person for all things 'rules'related we would have been buried by now.

Although I personally feel it is not supportive for HOA Board members, ahrc.com has a web forum and article submissions on many hotly debated topics.

Good Luck,
Lisa

Our association canceled our membership with CAI. We found most of the information they offered was available either on the internet, the management company or our attorney for free.
